"For a limited time, you'll receive a free video of your paragliding flight valued at $75"
Here's a Youtube video of what your paragliding takeoff and landing will look like.
There are no motors, engines, or anything mechanical that will take you to such heights. You will be propelled by thermals and ridge lift. The coastal cliffs of Honolulu (Makapu'u, Lanikai, and Kahana) are stunning and offer great opportunities to get to thousands of feet above the land.
While paragliding you will have a "birds-eye view" and see things that most people will never see in their entire life! Tandem Paragliding is the solution for you to get in the air without extensive training or prior knowledge. In a tandem paragliding flight, you will experience Paragliding, and if you desire, you will even learn to steer the paraglider. The large majority of our tandem paragliding flights are within 30 minutes of the Honolulu area.
In a Tandem Paragliding flight, your pilot will give you a brief introduction for the correct and incorrect techniques necessary for flight. Once you're ready to fly, your pilot will launch the glider (with you strapped in front), and you will have the first hand experience of what it feels like to truly fly. While in the air, you'll most likely get some ridge lift or thermals to increase your starting altitude. The pilot manages the take off and landing, but in the air you may take control of the brakes and steer the paraglider if your pilot feels you're ok to do so.
Tandem Flights are available all year long. However, due to the inconsistency of weather during the windy and rainy season, tandem flights are less consistent. Our ability to launch and fly safely are dependent on the weather. We might need to reschedule your flight due to conditions; however please E-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call us at (808) 852-1938 to stay informed about the current conditions.
You will need to comply with the following instructions of the Tandem Pilot
Do not grab any of the lines or webbing above your head unless the Pilot is guiding you in flight lessons.Make sure you are clear on the instructions for how to transition from the launch position to the flying position and visa versa for landing.Be familiar with how a Paraglider Launches and Lands
A Paraglider is a parafoil wing. It launches similar to how a kite is launched. In light winds, Pilots normally do a "Forward Launch", and in strong winds, pilots do a "Reverse Launch". In either launch technique, the pilot and passenger accelerate together to reach a good flying speed for take off.
Things to bring for your tandem flight:
Boots or shoes with ankle support and traction are required. You will not be aloud to fly without proper shoes!
Wear layered clothing and full pants. At sea level, it might be 85 degrees, but after a couple thousand feet up, it might get down to 50 degrees.
Bring bottled water. If you have your own bike helmet, please bring it and this will give you a perfect fit and eliminate sizing issues.
Cameras can be brought for in flight pictures
