2008 Type 9 Bow kites by RRD

Introducing the 2008 RRD Type 9 kite. The reference freestyle / wave riding kite.

The RRD Type 9 kite is taking the reference freestyle 5-line kite from 2007 and it has evolved it into a Supported Leading Edge (SLE) 4-line kite with unbeatable mix of:
- Superior Maneuverability
- Easy De-power
- light bar pressure
- amazing re-launch
- smooth progressive power

RRD Type 9 Technology of Construction:
The RRD Type 9 has a full list of technology details that make it a new step for state of the art reference:

- New SPS System with a new invisible inflating valve.
The inflating valve has been redesigned and is now completely molded inside the PU tube, underneath the dacron layer. A stronger, more durable and lighter inflating valve for the single pump system that improves quick inflating and durability!
- Hi-resistance depowering zipper.
An industry excellence also used on America's Cup sails. The zipper is RRD's patented system for increasing & decreasing the leech tension, resulting in more or less power/hangtime.
- Insignia double tape leech.
RRD's exclusive standard reinforced leech that improves resistance and reduces fluttering.
- PVC round label strut end protectors.
In order to prevent abrasion on the strut end and increase the finishing effect of hi-performance.
- Metallic PU strut end reinforcements.
A thinner layer of PU with metallic interior is used to improve durability of the strut end.
- DP 175 LL Dacron (highest grade Dacron).
RRD uses only the best materials available in the market that are surely tested over the years with unmatched resistance to UV exposure and durability to salt water. A top performance kite can only be built with top level materials.
- Tejin T9600 canopy (the strongest rip stop nylon on the market)

A success that keeps evolving. The reference hybrid kite in the market that has set a new standard for a mix of:

Superior Power
Easy de-power
Light Bar pressure
Maneuverability
Easy Re-launch

The new HyperType II takes into account the features of the HyperType1 and goes a few steps further. Technology of construction. The HT II has a full list of technology details that make it the new state of the art reference for 2008:

New SPS system with a new invisible inflating valve. The inflating valve has been redesigned and is now completely moulded inside the PU tube, underneath the Dacron layer. A stronger, more durable and lighter inflating valve for the single pump system that improves quick inflating and durability!
Insignia double tape leech.
Our classic exclusive standard reinforced leech that improves resistance and reduces fluttering.
PVC round label strut end protectors.
In order to prevent abrasion on the strut end and increase the finishing effect of a hyperformance.
Metallic PU strut end reinforcements.
A thin layer of PU with metallic interior is used to improve durability of the strut end.
DP 175 LL Dacron and Tejin T9600 Canopy.

Design features

The HyperType II has been computer designed with a remarked attention to the smallest seam accuracy in order to achieve a cleaner, almost wrinkle-free profile.

Our main focus when designing the HyperType II has been:

Increasing stability when completely de-powered (especially on sizes 9 and 7). This has been achieved with a deeper profile of the body towards the LE and through slightly wider tips.
Improved maneuverability on sizes 15 and 12, in order to achieve a better versatility of use for freeride/freestyle kiters. This has been achieved with slightly wider tips and higher tip leech tension.
Cutaway leech in order to increase stability of the trailing edge and prevent fluttering.

GLOBAL BAR 2008 - one bar for all RRD kites this year!!!

The new GLOBAL Bar is a huge step ahead in terms of construction details, functionality and durability.

SIDE ADJUSTMENTS: the side lines are pre-attached to the bar through short spectra ropes with 3 color coded knots. You can trim the back line length to your desired size and the cover the knots with the new soft superlite side-floater . You can also adjust the bar width by changing the leader line attachment point.

COLOR CODE: the blue on the right and red on the left is printed onto the new 3d logo EVA grips well as on the leader lines, covered by a plastic tube to prevent abrasions. Safety meets functionality and look.

SWIVEL CHICKEN LOOP: the long tested exclusive swivel chicken loop has been slightly improved, by extending it 2 cm. The new stopper ball has been improved with a bigger diameter. All together a hardcore, functional, strong and reliable piece!

CLAM CLEAT PULLER: a new webbing puller with a big , easy to grab puller loop has been fixed onto the end of the 6 mms spectra rope, to improve easy trimming and releasing of the rope. When the trim is pulled all the way, the exceeding spectra rope can be fixed behind the cleat by a Velcro attachment, so that it stays in place without swinging around.

SAFETY LINE: The new 2 mms safety line has been improved by using a bigger and stronger elastic rope that does not overextend, creating a ready-to-use, practical safety system to use in any critical condition.

FLYING LINES: using a new color coded 25m flying lines with reinforced spectra material has allowed the GLOBAL bar to have the best of all packages available!

FRONT LINES ADJUSTMENT: The only system in the industry that allows to re-trim the front lines from natural stretching. You know that after a few hours of kiting the front lines start to stretch , and in exceptional cases during heavy loads, the front lines can stretch up to 20 cm! The only way to re-trim you kite to the original proper trim is to shorten the front lines. The 4 knots above the de-power cleat allow you to re-adjust the length of the front lines up to 20 cm. This is the only way to have a kite always perfectly trimmed!
